This drawing has been sitting in my sketchbook for a long time, unfinished. This weekend, I finally added some color and detail to it. It was one of those drawings (actually, most of them are) that becomes meditative-a calm, focused effort. As it turns out, I needed the calm while drawing. Dan and I were watching The Dark Knight while I worked on this. Visually, it was wonderful, especially since there were so many shots of Chicago. Heath Ledger was great. However, I have a have had a hard time with violence since I had kids. I know, I'm a little lame. I had to stop watching the Sopranos (which I loved) when I was pregnant with the first guy, and I haven't been able to take anything remotely violent or disturbing ever since. Nature/parenting does that to you, I guess. I know I'm limited now in terms of subject matter, but the fewer frightening things my brain has to process at this point, the better.
This couch has been featured before.

Great color and textures. The comp brings you into the room so nicely!
Wow, that's a lot of line work! Nice job. Especially like the peak of hardwood floor behind the couch. And the lamp shade. And the mail. Okay, I really like the whole thing!
Very nice. MyLove isn't big on violence either. And me, suppose it's odd for a guy but, I immediately loose interest in the big battle scenes. I've slept through portions of Xmen, Spidy, even LOR... I just get board.
I admire people who can do line work like that. Me, nope not so much. But I love the controlled feel of the whole with the really bright colors!
You are a wonder with the pen...your linework continues to fascinate me to no end...well done! :)
I love your style, and you choose lovely subjects and colours. Another great one.
I like this too. It looks like a nice relaxing thing to work on. The colours and style are quite lovely.
Comic Book and Graphic Novel movie violence doesn't bother me (I know this was not an animated movie, I mean "over exaggerated fake violence"). I enjoy all the made from comic book flicks. Now, the kind of violence that does bother me is realistic and cruel violence. I know there is no Joker or Batman, but there are serial killers, torturers, and real evil people in the world. Anything that depicts that in a realistic way is very bothersome to me.
Each to their own, eh?
:)

This is so wonderfully done! Great colors and composition.
I never was a fan of violence and after having my daughter I am even more opposed to watching it. We already have enough to worry about don't we!
I agree with Margaret Ann about your line work.
These are great sketches.
Great tones for the sitting room. Lovely vibrancy for the coffee house.
